ShredDead Guide

Difficulty and endless scaling

What difficulty actually changes in ShredDead, how the five-wave clear ties to it, and what the endless tiers give you after the last wave falls.

ShredDead's difficulty setting is the only dial that keeps the enemy curve above your damage curve once the five waves are down, and endless mode is where the numbers keep going. Official ShredDead screenshot: a heavier wave pressing the outpost

What difficulty changes

The game tracks the highest difficulty separately from the waves themselves. Final Stand asks you to complete all five waves on the highest setting, and it sits at 20.3% against Fifth Wave at 26.1%. In other words: about three in four players who finish wave 5 on any setting have also done it on the top difficulty. The gap between the two numbers is roughly the population that cleared the run but not at maximum.

Higher difficulty means tougher waves. It is not a separate campaign and there is no difficulty-specific content behind it — it is a multiplier on the same run.

The completion curve

MilestoneGlobal completion
Complete Wave 182.3%
Complete Wave 252.5%
Complete Wave 335.0%
Complete Wave 429.8%
Complete Wave 526.1%
All five on highest difficulty20.3%

The first drop is the real one. Everything after wave 2 falls by single digits, which means the game's difficulty is concentrated in the transition from tutorial to actual economy. If you are stuck, it is almost certainly there, not at wave 5. The wave table goes through each step.

Endless mode

After the clear, the run continues and the enemy curve keeps climbing. The skill tree keeps offering endless tiers past the story-shaped part, and players report using them to keep pushing.

The known complaint is the opposite of what you would expect: at the end of a normal run, zombies die too fast. A forum thread asks for an endless-mode zombie upgrade specifically so the enemy curve can keep pace with a maxed tree. Nothing has shipped for that as of 28 October 2026.

Is it worth pushing past the clear?

Yes if you enjoy the numbers. No if you wanted new content: there is no second map, no new enemy type, no boss. The honest read is that difficulty and endless mode extend the same five-wave run rather than adding to it, and prestige adds perks rather than content — see prestige.

Practical settings

If you are pushing endless tiers, the settings page covers the resolution bug that can darken the screen, and saves and progress covers why you should back up before a long push — there is no cloud sync to save you.
